Welcome to The Gentle Crumb + Eco-Refillery, a locally owned bakery and Eco-Refillery in Barrie, Ontario, where delicious baking and more thoughtful everyday choices come together under one roof.

At the heart of our business is The Gentle Crumb, a bakery where everything we make is 100% gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free. That doesn’t mean a few special items or a separate section of the bakery — it means everything, every day. From brownies, cookies and squares to muffins, scones, cakes, cupcakes, breads, bagels and seasonal favourites, everything is made from scratch right here in our bakery.

We’ve spent years developing and refining our recipes because we don’t believe being gluten-free, dairy-free or egg-free should mean settling. Our goal is to make food that everyone at the table can get excited about, regardless of whether they have dietary restrictions.

Alongside the bakery is our Eco-Refillery, a simple way to restock many of the household and personal-care products you use every day without purchasing another container each time. Bring in your own clean container, or choose one of ours, and refill as much or as little as you need. From household cleaners and laundry products to shampoos, conditioners and body care, refilling is an easy way to reduce unnecessary packaging without completely changing the way you live.

A bakery and an Eco-Refillery might seem like an unusual combination at first, but to us they fit together naturally. Both are about the everyday choices we make — what we eat, what we use in our homes, what we put on our bodies and what we choose to bring home.

We don’t think making better choices needs to be complicated or perfect. Sometimes it can be as simple as refilling a bottle instead of replacing it, finding a bakery where you can confidently choose from the entire display, or supporting a local business when you have the opportunity.

That’s what The Gentle Crumb + Eco-Refillery is all about: really good food, practical ways to reduce everyday waste, and making both a little easier to fit into everyday life.

So come in for a brownie and refill your laundry detergent. Pick up your bread for the week and restock your shampoo. Or stop in for a refill and leave with a cookie you hadn't planned on buying. We certainly won't judge. 😉
